Holmdel PTSO's Awards for Service and 'Unsung Hero'

Written by the Holmdel PTSO President, Mary Lou Moramarco.

Each year at Senior Awards Night, the PTSO president presents non-academic scholarships to qualifying seniors. There are two categories: Service and Unsung Hero.

The faculty and staff were asked to nominate seniors they believed qualify for either of these awards. The seniors were also able to nominate each other as well as themselves.  We have found that sometimes students are serving the community in areas not seen by the HHS faculty and staff but are still deserving of recognition.

These nominees were then anonymously reviewed by the PTSO Scholarship Committee and recipients selected.  The PTSO nominating committee wishes to send their congratulations to all the nominees as they were all very impressive.

The Service Award recognizes seniors who have made significant contributions to Holmdel High Schooland /or the Holmdel community. Nominees should demonstrate a positive attitude and work constructively within our school or community, all while maintaining a good academic record.

The Unsung Hero Award honors seniors who, regardless of their academic record, have demonstrated strong character and a sense of commitment and responsibility toward their peers and the high school community. These seniors will have not been previously been recognized for these traits, but quietly model positive, supportive behavior that enriches HHS.
