Holmdel Indian Hill School Teacher of the Year

Rebecca Waddell was honored for commitment and hard work.

Rebecca Waddell, a 4th grade teacher specializing in special education and literature, is the Indian Hill School Teacher of the Year.

She was nominated by her colleagues and honored by the Board of Education in an awards ceremony on May 30. She has been a teacher at Indian Hill since 1999.

"Mrs. Waddell goes the extra mile with her students, breaking up the learning into fun segments and mini-lessons that captivate the learners, such as breaking into song or doing a quick dance challenge," said Superintendent Barbara Duncan in a press release. "She also spends a lot of time in quiet observation as she guides and conferences with her students within the literacy block. Mrs. Waddell is an inspirational teacher who motivates her students to love reading and writing."
