Holmdel BOE Appoints Assistant Superintendent

Dr. Robert McGarry will begin working for the district on Monday.

Long Branch resident Dr. Robert McGarry will begin work as Holmdel Township School District's assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction on Monday.

The Holmdel Board of Education appointed McGarry to the position in a vote on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

McGarry previously served as supervisor of curriculum and instruction in both the Montville and East Brunswick school districts. He also worked as director of curriculum and instruction for Shore Regional High School District and Asbury Park School District.

In 2006, McGarry was invited to participate in the revision of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, and in 2011, he was one of two educators chosen to represent New Jersey on the US Department of Education’s Regional Advisory Council for the Mid-Atlantic states.

McGarry began his career teaching in Hillsborough and later Marlboro.

McGarry's annual salary has been set at $157,000.
