The following was written by Bianca Lucarini, Student Board Member, and presented to the Hazlet Board of Education on Dec. 19. 

Hello Everyone! The Hazlet District has some very fun events planned for the new year ahead! But first, there are a few reminders for all schools. December 23rd to January 1st, school will be closed for Winter Break. School will reopen on January 2nd. Students Progress Reports were released Dec. 20.

Friday, January 17th will be a half day for students only. Monday, January 20th, school will be closed in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

At Raritan High School, there will be a Marching Band Meeting, Thursday, January 2nd at 7:30 p.m. The Marching Band Awards will be on January 16th at 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 21st there will be a Rocket Launcher Meeting at 7 p.m.

Hazlet Middle School’s chorus and band concert was held on Monday December 16th and was a wonderful performance. The Drops of RAINE club is organizing a collection of new and gently used books, sports equipment and school supplies. Donations can be brought to HMS until January 8. The next PTO meeting will be on Thursday, Jan 9 at 7p.m. in the Media Center.

At Beers Street Elementary School students were asked to wear their most comfy PJ’s for Pajama Day! There also was the National Geography Bee! The PTO will have their Meeting on January 21st at 6:30 p.m. Talent Show Rehearsal will be at RHS at 7 p.m. on January 23rd. Friday, January 24th, Heroes and Cool Kids will visit the 5th graders! That night will also be the talent show!

Cove Road Elementary school’s PTO will have their Meeting on Monday, January 13th. The Geography Bee finals will be on Tuesday, January 14th. The Winter Ball will be on Friday, January 31st.

Lillian Drive Elementary School’s students received a visit from Santa on December 20. There will be a PTO Meeting on Tuesday, January 7th at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 15th, will be the first and second grade science fair at 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 16th, will be the third and fourth grade science fair at 5 p.m. Come out and catch a flick on Friday, January 17th, at the PTO movie night !

Middle Road Elementary School students put on a phenomenal performance at this years Winter Concert ! Students also had a blast with Cookies and Milk with Santa!

Raritan Valley Elementary School student’s had a joyous time, displaying their musical talents at the Winter Concert! Raritan Valley hosted the grade four Spelling Bee!

Sycamore Drive Early Childhood Learning Center will kick off the new year with a SPCA Fundraiser that will start on Thursday, January 2nd. Movie Night will be on Friday, January 3rd.

Wednesday, January 8th, at 7:30 pm will be a PTO Meeting.
