Satz 8th Graders Take 2nd Place in CBA Math Competition
St. Benedict's team earned 8th place, with individuals from both teams earning "top ten" recognition.
Bright young minds gathered at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft Saturday armed with pencils and calculators to tackle the school's 42nd annual Christian Jones Mathematics Contest.
The 250 students from 31 schools had one hour to answer 20 multiple-choice algebra and geometry problems. According to the school official who helped brainstorm the questions, it was no easy task.
"It's the first time nobody scored above a 90, so it was truly a difficult test," said CBA Mathematics Chair Patrick Melosh.
Here are the trophy winners.
