SJVHS Welcomes Father Dan Kirk

SJVHS would like to welcome Father Dan Kirk to our school this year. Father Kirk spent the summer of 2011 at St. Benedict as a seminarian, where Father Dan Swift, Pastor, had the privilege of mentoring him. By all accounts, it was a great summer. So when Bishop O'Connell told Father Dan that Father Kirk would be assigned to St. Benedict as an associate pastor starting in July, Father Dan was glad for the opportunity to work with Father Kirk as a priest. For the most part, St. Benedict is Father Kirk's first assignment as a priest, and Father Dan recalls receiving an email from Father Kirk prior to his arrival, expressing his excitement to begin a parish assignment, and learn all there is to know to become an eventual pastor.

Being chaplain at SJV was an added blessing for both Father Kirk and SJV.  Father Kirk is looking forward to working with the SJV community. "My expectation of the time I spend at SJV is to enable both the students and the faculty to come to know the Lord in a deeper way. I want all of us to experience the love of God in such a way that it transforms how we interact with those around us; making us more loving, more compassionate people."

"I also expect that there will be a great deal of learning and teaching going on between myself and the rest of the SJV community. While I know a great deal of theology, there is still much for me to learn about what it means to be Lancer. And I'm looking forward to it."
