Monmouth County Democratic Freeholder Candidates Will Not Take Any Pay

Bill Shea and Kevin Lavan are Democrat Party candidates for County Freeholder board.

Monmouth County’s Democratic Candidates for Freeholder, William ”Bill” Shea and Kevin M. Lavan, announced Saturday at the Ocean Grove Home Owners Association at the Meet the Candidates Event, that, when elected this November they will not be taking a salary.

Bill Shea, a retired N.J. State Trooper and Kevin Lavan, a hiring agent for New York Shipping, feel it’s time to take back County Government.

"It’s time to put the people back in charge and remove the politicians. It’s time to put people like Bill and I on the Board of Chosen Freeholders that represent the working families," said Lavan.

"The people of Monmouth County deserve better. Last November when the Republicans took total control of the Freeholder Board, making a 5 Republican and 0 Democratic board, thus removing all transparency in county government, one of their first orders of business was to remove the pay to play laws that were in place in Monmouth County. This is what happens when you don’t have a balance or any oversight," said Shea.

Shea and Lavan will work for the people without pay putting their salaries back in the County Budget.

This is what you do when you have a serious dedication to your community and your county, said Lavan.

"If you see the people of Monmouth County having to tighten their belts due to the economy then it’s high time someone that represents them does the same," said Shea.

Shea and Lavan will be working hard as your Freeholders, standing up for seniors and working families at every turn and will be pushing for ethics and oversight in county government.

"Without the oversight of an ethics board, county government will continue to be a runaway train. We need to put our money where our mouth is and put the pride back in Monmouth County," said Shea.

"Monmouth County needs people like Bill and I that will do what we say -- not politicians that just say what they think you want to hear," said Lavan.

Bill Shea and Kevin Lavan are the total package. Kevin, with old school values, and Bill, with a fresh new outlook, will reform county government, stand up for taxpayers, and serve as ambassadors for Monmouth County small business.

They believe in public service, not politics, and will represent 100% our communities with integrity.

The Right Team for Monmouth County.
