Countdown to Our Wedding Reception at Holmdel's Bayonet Farm!

Days from the wedding, my thoughts on the location and organizers.

Hi! I'm really excited (and stressed and busy), because we're only 3 days away from our wedding at Allaire State Park and reception at Bayonet Farm. We applied for the marriage license on Monday, and we're running around like chickens with our heads cut off, taking care of last-minute things for the wedding (and move to CA). I know it will all turn out alright in the end. What we want most is to put on a good party for our friends and family, and keep that intimate atmosphere and country simplicity.

Since my last post about Bayonet, we've had some pretty productive weeks. We had an excellent meeting with our caterer (Country Picnic in Bedminster) and florist (Gen at Posies) at the barn, with ideas flying around like crazy. We learned a lot that day. Putting on a DIY wedding isn't that easy! That's what you get with the Bayonet Farm. Luckily, our caterer is super organized, and I have learned to trust the opinion of the person who knows how to put on a party. However, he did tell us that in the 20 years of his catering experience, he's never had to do so much preliminary paperwork to put on a wedding. This includes mostly all kinds of permits, insurance, and learning their rules and restrictions, as well as dealing with several different departments at the township. I'm hoping that now that he has done all of it once, it will be easier for him to be able to work at Bayonet again. Now he knows their system a little bit.

I'm really pleased how it's come together. Everyone's been really cooperative, including Holmdel Township, and I expect Saturday to be a great day, with a great party! Let's hope for no rain! (Still, we've got the pretty peaked tent for dinner and the barn for cocktails and dancing.) I'll follow up with a few pictures!
