Ankle Sprains: an all too common injury

Inversion ankle sprains are a very common injury which can be very painful and can limit participation in sports, daily activity, mobility tasks, and every day life.  Some individuals may be more prone to this type of injury because of things like:

  • foot structure
  • hypermobility: being "too flexible"
  • previous ankle injury
  • muscle weakness
  • poor muscle control
  • poor flexibility
Recent research demonstrated that a supervised exercise program and manual therapy (hands on treatment of muscles and joints) provided better pain relief and improved function when compared with self treatment.  In addition, it has been the experience of the Doctors of Physical Therapy @ ProForm that there is significant value in balance, agility, and coordination exercises to prevent future re-injury.

If you, or someone you love, is having difficulty with movement because of an acute or chronic ankle sprain, call ProForm today to schedule a consultation.  Remember, you do not need an MD prescription to start Physical Therapy treatment today.  The first 5 callers will receive a FREE ice pack for home use.  732-970-7882 OR text keyword "proform" to 77453.
