Upcoming Street Repair Projects in Holmdel. Is Yours on the List?

Next week, Holmdel Township will begin advertising for bids for annual springtime construction work on several streets in town as recommended by township engineers. The Township Committee gave the project's scope a green light to continue at its last meeting. Next, authorization will be sought to complete final engineering in order to compete for the best contractors. 

"Finally, I will be requesting authorization to take alternate bids to address drainage problems on Line Road and Deercrest Drive that have arisen over the last few weeks an will require attention in the near future," said Township Engineer Edward G. Broberg in the report.

The funding for the project will be provided by the 2011 budget. The Funding Ordinance included: $600,000 for Neighborhood Rehabilitation Program and Collector Road Program; $100,000 for Annual Curb Replacement Program and $50,000 for drainage improvements.

The projects are:

Doughill Court and Highpoint Road -- Located within the Georgjean subdivision off Holmdel Road, near the Lucent Crawford Hill facility. To completely reconstruct 1,115 feet of the existing pavement section on Doughill Court and the northern section of Highpoint Rd, replace curbing and reconstruct drainage inlets.

Fernwood Court, Phase II - Small cul-de-sac off Telegraph Hill Rd. in poor condition. Continue pavement reconstruction, remove and replace existing pavement, fix drainage inlets. Keep curbing.

Winthrop Lane, Phase I - Winthrop is a "P" loop street located off Everett Rd. Although the entire subdivision is in poor condition, there are insufficient funds to completely rehabilitate the entire subdivision. This year's work will include: Remove and replace 1,000 feet of roadway on the westerly portion of Winthrop. Drainage inlets will be improved.

Ely Road: Complete reconstruction of 1,400 feet of Ely Road between Route 520 and Spring Valley Drive to correct pavement in poor condition. Drainage inlets wll be improved, and concrete curb replaced where necessary.

Dante's Way (alternate) - Small cul-de-sac located on the east side of Holmdel Road south of the Parkway. Existing pavement in poor condition, will be completely replaced, drainage inlets reconstructed. "Since the overall Neighborhood Rehabilitation Program exceeds funding available, we are recommending that Dante's Way be bid as an alternate so that this project element could be considered if favorable bids are received," Broberg said.

Country Woods Subdivision Rehabilitation Part IV - Curb replacement, catch basin repair, and minor pavement repairs along both Fieldgate Court and Fox Hunt Road. Future plans will involve drainage and curb repair on Fox Run, and more repair and resurfacing throughout Country Woods.

Drainage Improvement Program

American Way / Middletown Road Drainage System - The drainage system runs along American Way from the intersection of Sheffield Place toward and across Middletown Road. The 15" concrete drainage pipe along the southern curbline  will be cleaned, televised and grouted. Pavement settlement will be repaired. The downstream stystem is clogged with silt, causing the roadway to become flooded during rainfall so the entire drainage system at the intersection of Middletown Road and Lucent East Gate pipe will be cleaned and de-silted.

Drainage Inlet Repairs - Repair of catch basins at various locations provided by the Dept. of Public Works.

7 Emory Place: Milling and paving the area to provide positive drainage down Emory Place to alleviate a flooding/icing problem.

42 Blue Hill Drive  - Milling and repaving the area to provide positive drainage down Blue Hills drive to a drainage inlet.

54 McCampbell Road - To repair a large sinkhole in the area of a drainage trunkline. Excavation, pipe repair and pavement repair.
