On July 3, Fireworks Will Ignite the Sky Over Hazlet

Larger than usual crowd expected at spruced up Veterans Park to see the July 3 show overhead.

Hazlet Township's newly spiffed-up Veterans' Park will be the site of the annual fireworks show Tuesday night at 9:20 p.m. The park is located at 1776 Union Avenue, next door to the Municipal Building.

Plush new sod, a pretty gazebo, and classic landscaping along the new paved walking paths and the pond are some of the improvements that will greet people coming to watch on the Great Lawn.

With the cancellation of other local fireworks shows, officials are expecting a larger than usual crowd and are advising folks to stake out their spots early. Popular viewing locations are the newly-reopened Great Lawn at Veterans' Park, the parking lots at Kohl's Plaza, Dearborn Market, Middle Road and anywhere you can pull your car over without bothering anyone for as long as it takes to see the show.

Hazlet Swim Club members will be able to swim until 9 p.m. and enjoy the show on the club grounds. DJ Jeremy will be playing music to go with the boom, whistles and loud crackling of the Zambelli fireworks. Food vendors selling hot dogs, sausages, funnel cake and Italian ice will be available in the parking lots.
