Petition Drive Continues In Preparation for June 6 Hearing

CILU members working to oppose NJDEP proposed plans to wastewater management area.

Members of Citizens for Informed Land Use are continuing a campaign to collect signatures on a petition opposing the NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection's changes to the Wastewater Management plan, in time for the June 6 public hearing in Manalapan.

The organization has also published a new section on the Holmdel-CILU.org website to support the petition drive and explain CILU's other preparations for hearing. On the homepage are three linked petitions and an email address for further help.

Opponents fear that NJDEP’s proposed inclusion of the entire Lucent and Arts Center tracts in a Sewer Service Area will open the areas to massive development and reduce the quantity and quality of water feeding into the Swimming River Reservoir.

On Saturday, Anthony Cooper and Nancy Fitch collected 30 signatures each on the two main petitions during two hours outside the Holmdel Post Office, Cooper said. He estimated the group has probably collected more than 500 signatures collected to date.
