Oceanic Bridge, Linking Middletown and Rumson, Reopens Friday

A beloved bridge is put back into service.

The scenic Oceanic Bridge, which links Locust Point in Middletown to Rumson over the Naveskink River, will reopen with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, May 18.

The 72-year old Monmouth county-owned bridge reopens after a $3.5 million state-funded repair to its movable section at its center. In coming years, the bridge will have to be completely replaced, said county officials.

Iron Bridge Group Inc. of North Brunswick completed the job ahead of schedule, and importantly, before Memorial Day weekend.
