Lucent Public Meeting Scheduled for Monday

Somerset Developers will be on hand to answer questions from the public.

It's time for the public to officially start weighing in on the Lucent property.

Representatives from Somerset Developers will be on hand on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Senior/Community Center in Holmdel.

The meeting was contingent upon Somerset being able to provide a full presentation, including full visuals of the building plan and property plan. Somerset met its June 13 deadline with the plans, according to township officials.

The last Holmdel heard of Somerset was an appearance before the Planning Board in May.

The Holmdel Planning Board approved application completeness waivers for Somerset Developers regarding the Alacatel-Lucent project, which brought it one step closer to an official public hearing.

A completeness waiver, granted at the May 14 meeting, does not absolve the developer of providing the necessary information, it just allowed the Planning Board to schedule a hearing regarding the application in temporary absence of the materials.

Somerset Developers created a website which outlines its plans for the Lucent property, which include a spa, health and wellness center, nursing facility, a satellite college campus and a hotel.
