Keansburg Joins County Health Department

By joining the county health department, Keansburg residents will have access to a variety of services.

The Borough of Keansburg has become a member of the Monmouth County Health Department, giving residents full access to the public health services offered.

“By joining the Monmouth County Health Department, Keansburg’s residents now have access to County’s public health team and the services they offer.” said Freeholder John P. Curley, liaison to the County Health Department. 

Keansburg became a member on Aug. 1, joining 26 other Monmouth County towns.

The county health department provides residents with health education, clinical and preventative health services, environmental and consumer health programs, communicable disease control and public health preparedness. Programs offered include child health home visiting, healthy traveler, a lead-based paint abatement program, sexually transmitted disease clinic, tuberculosis clinic and a women’s health program.

“The County will also provide many services in Keansburg that residents may not be aware of or see on a regular basis,” Curley added. “The County Health Department will conduct food inspections as part of its program to help protect food and drinking water supplies and ensure compliance with environmental health regulations, related to air, water, noise and nuisance control.”

Services are provided at one of the county’s Human Services offices in Freehold or Ocean townships, the Neptune Housing Authority or the Hazlet Municipal Building.

Services provided vary from location to location. For example, The Hazlet Municipal Building, located at 1766 Union Ave., offers free or low-cost regular screenings for cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension, BMI (body mass index) and oral cancer, immunizations for adults and children, lead screening for children and Pap tests.
