Electrical Work To Begin In Ortley Beach Monday

JCP&L offers barrier island service restoration update

Work to restore power is expected to begin next week on several streets in Ortley Beach.

Beginning on Monday, Feb. 25, seven streets in the battered barrier island community are slated for utility construction. North Beach, Pelican Island, Ortley Beach (Middle and West) and Ortley Beach (East — Between Route 35 North and South) have been energized, according to the township.

"We understand the hardships experienced by customers whose homes and belongings were damaged by Hurricane Sandy, particularly in the hard-hit barrier islands," reads a statement posted to the township website. "JCP&L remains committed to working with federal, state and local agencies in a coordinated effort to rebuild and restore service to those areas."

The following chart posted to the Toms River website shows the anticipated construction schedule:

Affected Street Tentative Construction Start Date Harding In Progress Coolidge 2/25/13 Fort 2/25/13 Fielder 2/25/13 2nd 2/25/13 Dover 2/25/13 6th TBD 7th TBD 8th TBD 9th TBD 4th 2/27/13 5th 2/27/13 3rd, Nicholas, Brier, Diane TBD

Fees for electrical service restoration, which can be done once repairs are made to damaged homes, have been waived for customers impacted by Sandy and the recent Nor'easter, according to the township.

Toms River also offered tips on ensuring a safe and trouble-free power reconnection process, which is available in full on their website

After 4 months, what kind of commentment is TBD. The Governor should bring in outside Electric Companies to get this done and send the bills to JCPL.

I agree or send JCPL our bills for being displaced, and still being in limbo when we can get home.

you know what people...get over it it's not JCP&L...it's the local & state government that you should be bitching about...really send JCP&L your bill for being displaced? now that makes so much sense...don't you think that if it was possible for the power company to be working there that they would have been?
