Impreveduto Wants Vista to Remain the Same Around Alcatel-Lucent

Mayor Impreveduto outlined his personal wishes for the Holmdel property.

Mayor Patrick Impreveduto said his goal for the Alcatel-Lucent property in Holmdel is to keep the vista the same, despite impending residential development.

"My ultimate wish would have been to have one company come in and take the whole building over and leave things the way are," Impreveduto said. "But unfortunately that's not reality."

The most recent development plans submitted by Somerset Development propose two conceptual plans with age restricted housing, a sports complex and and a fitness facility.

But the proposal was sent back to the developer after the township's committee asked for more detailed plans in January.

"It seems like a housing component is needed on the property in order for the property to be financially viable," Impreveduto said.

The standing building on the property may be turned into a town center according to Impreveduto, which would contain offices and "maybe an online college."

"I want to see the vista remain the same. If you're driving down Crawfords Corner Road or Roberts Road, what you see now is hopefully what you're going to see then."
