The Hazlet Township Committee selected a familiar face to serve as mayor for 2014.
Mayor James DiNardo was selected Saturday by members of the Township Committee to serve another term as mayor. Dinardo was elected to the Township Committee in 2006 and served as mayor in 2007 and 2008.
“It’s a team effort here and that’s how you have to look at it,” said Mayor DiNardo. “We’re going to be looking forward with sustainable savings for the town.”
Mayor DiNardo said the township is considering switching to LED street lights throughout out Hazlet as a cost saving measure.
Mayor DiNardo also said the township will work toward a uniform zip code for the township, and continuing with overdue curb and paving projects.
“I’m a lifelong resident of Hazlet, and I’ve been married for 35 years,” he said. “My children went through the school system…I love Hazlet. It’s a beautiful town.”
