Browsing the Garden State Parkway Surplus Property Sale in Holmdel

Twice a year, there is a rummage sale on the Garden State Parkway access road, off Crawfords Corner Road. 

The NJ Turnpike Authority, Garden State Parkway Division, puts out for bid multitudes of vehicles and equipment that have surpassed their useful life but can still be worth something, to somebody.  

According to the men in the yard overseeing the assets, quite a few people come through to check out the offerings.

New this year is a fleet of Harley Davidson police motorcycles, used for training. 

But taxi drivers will walk right past them, because they want to see the retired police pursuit workhorse, the Ford Crown Victorias. A person can bid on dozens of choices, from a 1997 model with 195,000 miles, to a 2005 model with 294,491 miles

Landscapers poke around the Toro Groundsmaster 72" cut diesel mowers. 

The junkyard guys will take the 2005 Durangos, and sell them for parts.

The scrap metal dealers will take anything that rusts. 

The sale is publicly advertised from June 21-23. A 14-page booklet describing the items is available on site. Bids are due by June 24.
