Bill Would Ease Restrictions on Alcohol at Holmdel Twp Parks and Facilities

A public hearing will be held on June 21.

Does your organization want to host a big picnic with a beer keg at a scenic park? Or would you like to host your company's wine and cheese mixer in a large space, conveniently off Parkway Exit 116? Holmdel might soon be an option.

Local legislation introduced June 7 could ease restrictions against alcohol, making park rentals more attractive for people looking for a place to host a special event or celebration. Presently, alcohol is permitted with township permission at Holmdel's Bayonet Farm, which is becoming more and more popular for weddings.

The applicant would have to apply three weeks in advance, leave a $500 security deposit and submit certificate of Insurance showing at least $1 million coverage and naming Holmdel as an additional insured. The certificate must also include evidence of liquor liability. Also, the applicant must file a hold harmless agreement. Forms are available from the Township Clerk's office.

The $500 fee can be waived by the Township Committee in some cases.

A public hearing on the proposal will be held on June 21 at 7 p.m.
