VIDEO: Anxious Questions about Lucent Redevelopment Plans

At the Township Committee meeting Thursday, officials said it was not too late to suggest ideas.

Questions about what exactly is being discussed behind closed doors for the redevelopment of nearly 500-acres of Alcatel Lucent property were brought up by two residents at a Township Committee meeting on Feb. 17.

Mayor Patrick Impreveduto and Committeeman Eric Hinds, the two elected members who serve on the Lucent subcommittee, were not present. So it was up to Deputy Mayor Serena DiMaso, Committeeman Larry Fink, and Township Attorney Duane Davidson to assure members of the public that they will be informed and involved in public meetings as the talks unfold and wind their way through Planning and Zoning board meetings. Committeeman Rocco Pascucci was also present, though not shown in this video.

Questions were asked by residents Vitaly Kuleshov, who asked about whether there would be age restrictions attached to the proposed housing units,  and by Shirley Lagattuta, who asked if it was not too late to suggest the site be developed into affordable senior housing.
