Address Change "Eliminates Confusion" Between West Keansburg and Keansburg

Congressman Frank Pallone said he sent a letter to the Postmaster General requesting the change, after "hearing from constituents and local officials."

To the glancing eye of a Monmouth County foreigner, West Keansburg would understandably be assumed a section of Keansburg.

As of last week, residents of West Keansburg can use Hazlet Township on their mailing addresses.

Congressman Frank Pallone (D-6) said he sent a letter to the Postmaster General requesting the change, after "hearing from constituents and local officials," because West Keansburg pays taxes to Hazlet, votes in Hazlet and receives emergency services from Hazlet Township.

“This name change will help eliminate confusion among those who mistakenly believe that West Keansburg is part of the neighboring borough of Keansburg instead of Hazlet Township,” Pallone said.  “Operating uniformly under the name of Hazlet will create a more unified township, and I’m pleased that the U.S. Postal Service was able to accommodate this request.”

Mail addressed to West Keansburg will be delivered without interruptions, but residents are urged to begin using their new address now.

The Zip Code will not change and remain 07734-2913.
