Woman Charged With Using Fraudulent Documents to Obtain Car Registrations

Hazlet Police arrest a Keyport woman at the MVC office in Airport Plaza, Hazlet.

Police say a Keyport woman used fraudulent documents to obtain vehicle registrations for undocumented residents at the state Motor Vehicle Commission office in Hazlet. 

Christina Soares, 52, of Keyport was arrested by Hazlet Police on June 9 and charged with four counts of tampering with public records, and four counts of falsifying public records. 

Soares had allegedly used fraudulent vehicles titles to register motor vehicles for illegal aliens between November 2009 and June 8, 2012.

The state agency initiated the investigation, according to Lt. Charles McBride.

After her arrest, Soares was released on $30,000 bond, set by Judge Michael Pugliese.
