New Holmdel CERT Team is Forming

Volunteers sought to aid their community in a disaster. Ages 18 and up.

Office of Emergency Managment Coordinator Michael Simpson is looking for up to a dozen volunteers to form a new CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) in Holmdel Township.

CERT members give critical support to first responders in emergencies. They assist victims in an emergency, organize volunteers at a disaster site, and collect information to help emergency workers.

Free training is offered, consisting of 20 hours over an 8-week period. Trainees get their own personal CERT kit which includes protective clothing, first aid equipment, flashlight and rescue tools. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
