Thieves Boost 3 Mercedes Cars in Holmdel, Police Say

The cars were unlocked and stolen late Wednesday or early Thursday.

Discriminating car thieves boosted three unlocked Mercedes cars in Holmdel overnight.

The Holmdel Police Department issued an alert message Thursday advising residents that the cars were taken between 11 p.m. on Wednesday and early Thursday morning.

All three cars were taken from driveways, one on Raintree Court and two on Barrister Drive. Mercedes-Benz vehicles were the luxury brand most stolen by car thieves in the New York City area from 2009 to 2012, according to an NJ.com report of a National Insurance Crime Bureau study.

Two vehicles in Rumson were stolen overnight, as well, according to a Rumson-Fair Haven Patch report.

Police advised residents to lock cars.
