Shoplifting at Old Navy Leads to Drug Charges, Police Say

The three charged were found to have warrants from several towns in the state.

Three Middlesex County residents were arrested in Holmdel on Tuesday, after police allegedly caught them attempting to shoplift from Old Navy in Holmdel Commons.

Demetrice Taylor, 51, and Theresa Heard, 45, both of Perth Amboy were arrested along with Tara Lassandro, 36, of Edison. Police said all three had warrants stemming from Middlesex County and Union County towns.

Police said Taylor was arrested and charged with shoplifting, and warrants out of Linden, Woodbridge and Piscataway. Taylor was processed and handed over to the Linden Police Department.

Heard was arrested after police discovered warrants from the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department, Perth Amboy and Woodbridge. Heard was given to the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department.

According to police, Lassandro was found at the scene in possession of prescription drugs and charged with the intent to distribute, shoplifting and warrants from Perth Amboy, North Hunterdon, Piscataway and New Brunswick. Lassandro was transported to the Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.
