Rookie Hazlet Police Officer Faces DWI Charge in Union Beach Crash

Joseph Fabian, 25, struck three parked vehicles in a driveway, according to Union Beach police.

A Hazlet police officer in training was charged with driving while intoxicated after a car accident in Union Beach on Wednesday, March 27, Union Beach Police Chief Scott Woolley confirmed.

Joseph Fabian, 25, allegedly struck three cars parked in a driveway on Stone Road at 2:47 a.m., according to Woolley.

Union Beach Patrolman Christopher Tuberion was the responding officer.

Fabian began in-house training with the Hazlet Township Police Department in August 2012 and graduated from Cape May County Police Academy in January. His starting salary with Hazlet as an academy enrollee was $41,606.

Hazlet Chief James Broderick said that because the matter concerns a personnel issue, he is limited on what he can comment on regarding the charge.
