Police: Trio Sold Stolen Jewelry in Hazlet, Keansburg & Union Beach

A Monmouth County grand jury voted Wednesday to indict the Matawan men on three charges.

Three Matawan men were indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury Wednesday on charges they knowingly sold stolen jewelry in several Bayshore towns.

Investigators say Raymond Semmens, 46, and John Salvatore, 42, received stolen jewelry valued in excess of $500 in Union Beach, Keansburg and Hazlet between Nov. 15 and Dec. 10, 2012.

During the same time period in Keansburg and Hazlet, Semmens and Salvatore allegedly sold the jewelry.

Semmens, Salvatore and Mario Castellano, 47, also of Matawan, allegedly again received stolen jewelry valued in excess of $500 and sold it in Hazlet on Dec. 10.

Semmens and Salvatore are facing two counts of receiving stolen property and two counts of fencing. Castellano is facing one count of each.

All charges are in the third degree.

An indictment does not indicate a conviction, only that a grand jury voted there was enough evidence to proceed with a trial.
