Police: Shoe Switch Gets Hazlet Man Arrested for Shoplifting

James Granberg of Hazlet allegedly switched shoes in the dressing room and attempted to leave Kohl's in Holmdel.

The classic "switcharoo" technique apparently doesn't work on Kohl's loss prevention officers.

James Granberg, 36 of Hazlet allegedly switched his old shoes for new ones in a Kohl's and tried to walk out, before being stopped at the front door.

Loss prevention officers at Kohl's also reported Granberg had allegedly taken the tags off of a pair of sunglasses in the store as well.

Granberg was arrested on March 19 by Holmdel Police with $118.99 worth of merchandise allegedly on his person. He was processed and released, pending a court date.
