Police: Hazlet Man Responsible for Daytime Middletown Burglary

A 21-year-old Hazlet man allegedly fled from police.

A Hazlet man is facing several charges after he allegedly broke into a Middletown home and fled from police on foot, according to Detective Lt. Steve Dollinger.

Middletown police received reports of a burglary in progress at an Alimar Drive home on Thursday around 2 p.m. When Cpl. Robert McNair and Patrolman Thomas Hughes arrived to investigate, they saw a man running from the home, according to Dollinger. 

McNair and Hughes chased the man and took him into custody. He was identified as Mackenzie Killeen, 21, of Michigan Avenue.

Killeen is charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, obstructing the administration of the law and violating a restraining order. 

Judge Richard Thompson set bail at $20,000 with no option to post 10 percent of the bond.
