Police Blotter: Graffiti Spraypainted on Buildings; Car Burglary

Police release report March 28 of two graffiti incidents on March 18-19, and a March 25 car burglary.

March 18:  Police investigated a report of criminal mischief at 1:17 a.m. March 18. They found graffiti spray painted on the rear wall of the LA Fitness building, at 2101 Highway 35. It also appears on an adjacent retaining wall, police said. Several of the phrases were racial and derogatory in nature, said police.  

March 19:  Police observed spray painted graffiti at the rear of a building at 487 Middle Road, at the Middle Road Shopping Center, at 2:30. In this case there was a derogatory comment painted on the wall adjacent to some type of insignia, police said.

Both incidents are being investigated by the Holmdel Twp. Police Department Detective Bureau. Any persons with information should contact Det. Sgt. Louis Torres at (732) 946-4400.

Car Theft

March 25: A substantial amount of cash was stolen from the glove compartment of an unlocked 2002 Honda parked in the driveway of 65 Takolusa Dr., a resident reported to police. The theft occurred sometime between Thursday, March 24 and the early morning hours of Friday March 25, the resident told police. There was no damage to the car, but the glove compartment was found in the open position with the cash missing when the resident came out, according to Lt. Michael Smith. 

Police are urging residents to lock all vehicles due to the frequency of car burglaries throughout the township.
