Pedestrian Struck in Airport Plaza, Hazlet Man Charged With DWI

The pedestrian was treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to police.

A Wednesday afternoon accident in Hazlet's Airport Plaza yielded DWI charges for a Hazlet man, and minor injuries for a pedestrian.

Paul Sabo, 55, of Hazlet allegedly struck a pedestrian in the parking lot around 1:30 p.m., and proceeded to leave the scene. Police caught up with him at Middle Road and Route 36, where Sabo was arrested.

According to NJ.com, a small crowd witnessed police remove Sabo from his vehicle and Sabo was "visibly stumbling and struggling with police before eventually being subdued."

The pedestrian was treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to police.

Sabo is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence, failure to report an accident, assault with a motor vehicle and reckless driving.
