Marc Wildman, 21, was indicted after allegedly eluding police in October.

Marc Wildman, 21 of Morganville was indicted on Wednesday after allegedly eluding Holmdel police in October before crashing into a utility pole.

According to Holmdel Police Lt. Michael Smith, Ptl. Jonathan Martin tried to stop Wildman driving 76 mph in a 50 mph zone of Highway 34, at Deer Path, around 10:09 p.m Monday night.

When the officer tried to stop the car, the driver in the 2007 Honda accelerated and made a right turn onto Schanck Road and continued until it struck a pole at the intersection with Pleasant Valley Road in Marlboro.

"He thought his license was suspended," said Lt. Smith, when asked what motivated the driver to flee.

Wildman was indicted on charges of eluding police in the second degree.
