Keyport Woman Accused of Aggravated Assault on Holmdel Police Officer

The following information was obtained directly from Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 26-year old Keyport woman was arrested by Holmdel Police on charges she allegedly disrupted Bayshore Community Hospital's Emergency Room on July 18 by making threats to kill a man, assaulting a Holmdel police officer, and attempting to disarm him.

Colleen L. Render, 26 of 56 Main Street in Keyport is being held in Monmouth County Jail on $25,000 bail.

During her arrest by Holmdel Police, Render allegedly committed aggravated assault on a uniformed officer by kicking him in the groin as she tried to flee the hospital, and attempting to wrest control of his firearm from him. The report did not identify the officer by name.

According to police, she also removed an IV from her arm in the ER, bled on the floor, and screamed she was going to infect everyone there with AIDS. In the process, said police in their report, she flipped over a table containing food and medical supplies.

Render is scheduled for an initial appearance before a judge on Monday morning.

OK__so what is the Bottom Line? How much is this incident going to "Cost the taxpayers"??? We pay to keep her in the County Jail; we pay for her Public Defender; We pay for her trial; we pay again after the trial when she is convicted and sent to prison. Just maybe Public Flogging is not such a bad alternative, because we are going broke doing it this way and it is NOT working.
