Keansburg Man Forged Checks in Several Towns, Prosecutor Says

According to county records, Fenton was convicted of forgery in 2010 in Monmouth County and was given 2 years probation.

A Keansburg man was indicted on charges last week of forging checks across several Monmouth County towns, according to county records.

Robert Fenton, 58, of Center Ave allegedly forged personal checks and attempted to cash them at several T.D. Bank locations in Hazlet, Middletown, Holmdel and Keansburg in August.

Fenton allegedly attempted to cash checks in the amount of $500.

According to county records, Fenton was convicted of forgery in 2010 in Monmouth County and was given 2 years probation.

Fenton is charged with six counts of forgery, six counts of uttering a forged instrument and one count of theft by deception.

An indictment does not indicate absolute guilt or a conviction. It only means that a county grand jury found there was enough evidence to proceed with a prosecution. Guilt or innocence will be tried and determined in a court of law.
