Keansburg Man Arrested in Hazlet On Drug and Bad Check Charges

Hazlet Police have arrested a 24-year old Keansburg man and charged him with multiple offenses related to illegal drug possession and passing bad checks.

A Hazlet Police officer signed a complaint charging Christian J. Szeles, whose last known address was on Bay Avenue, to have been in possession of two wax folds believed to be heroin on April 9, while in Hazlet. Also on that date, the officer charged him with being in possession of 16 empty wax folds used to package heroin, giving the officer a false name of "Christian Gonzales,"  and attempting to conceal from an officer outstanding contempt of court warrants from Branchberg, Cateret, Elizabeth, Keansburg, Sayreville and Woodbridge.

Two weeks earlier, on March 25, police say Szeles attempted to cash a $100 check at Valley National Bank when he knew the account had been closed and had no  money. He is alleged to have tried to do this again on March 27 and on March 29.

Szeles is being held at the county jail on more than $12,000 bail.
