Holmdel Man, Alleged to Be High on Synthetic Pot, Assaults a Police Officer

A policeman was bit by a 26-year old man believed to be high on synthetic marijuana.

Police say an injured 26-year old Holmdel man, suspected of overdosing on synthetic marijuana, bit a Holmdel police officer in an incident Thursday.

Police were called to 9 Lexington Court in the Hidden Woods development around 9 a.m. Thursday. But when they arrived, they said 26-year old Michael J. McGreevey went and locked himself in a second floor bedroom. He had been bleeding from a serious cut to the leg, and a large amount of blood could be seen througout the first floor of the residence.

With the help of additional officers, police broke into the bedroom in an effort to get him to the hospital. But police say McGreevy resisted, biting Sgt. Hughes on the hand. Hughes was treated at Bayshore Community Hospital for the wound.
