In North Middletown, House Fire Claims a Life

Police and fire companies responded to a blaze at 160 Jersey Avenue in the middle of the night.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a fire that charred a small bungalow-type house at 160 Jersey Avenue.

One person died in the fire, Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Marc LeMieux told the Asbury Park Press, but authorities have not released the person's identity.

The fire was reported to police around 1:30 a.m. The small street was filled with ambulances and fire engines battling the blaze for several house on the densely occupied block, facing Route 36.

Next door neighbor David Echeverria said he was awakened by a "loud bang, like firecrackers" and fire trucks in front of his home in the dark of night. "I was pretty scared when I saw the saw flames shooting out of the house," he said, looking at the burned out house just a few feet away from his. "They were as tall as that tree behind the house."

He grabbed his dog Oatmeal and pounded on his grandfather Wilfredo Gonzalez's door, who lives next to him on the other side. Together they directed a hose onto David's house, but the heat of the fire melted portions of the siding on his house, and on the other neighboring house.

Echeverria said his grandmother Gloria Gonzalez saw a body taken out of the house around 4:30 a.m.

He said he did not know the woman who rented the house at 160 Jersey very well.

Check back for more details as they become available.

No pitty or sympathy from me...her family lost her a long time ago to the drug life...I'm not selfish, I would never put my kid or my family and friends through that crap....Yes I have anger towards drug addicts, they RUIN Lives of others as well as their own...I know MANY Kids who are all messed up mentally due to the choices their "Parents" make to do and sell drugs and die as a direct result of them...now u people feel sorry for the kids cause now she died?? what about beforehand? Wake up people love your children and be responsible adults...I am sick and tired of my kids friends not having parents because of drugs....and alot of them speak of it in a manner of hey it's normal it's no big deal...IT'S NOT NORMAL

Your points are all valid, but does any of us really need to know whether or not Lynn gets sympathy from you? At the end of the day, who do you think really cares about who Michelle M. Miller gives sympathy towards? You're right! Drugs ruin lives! But what you fail to realize is that when folks get caught up in drug use, they cease to be the person they were. I knew Lynn and I've always thought she was a good soul. Sadly, she's not the first good person I've known who couldn't release themselves from their addiction and I DO have sympathy for her.

Wow.... that post is really uncalled for michelle. Did drugs have something to do with the death? so far it seems so. That being said, a life was destroyed. A FAMILY that will never be the same. I did not know Lynn, but I am sure from what I have read in the paper that she had demons. And the demons won. It is sad, very sad. But to post such mean stuff is uncalled for. I pray for her children and the family she left behind. And hope to God they catch the person who did this.
