Update: House Fire On Cherry Tree Farm Road in Middletown

About 45 firefighters from several companies responded. One was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion injuries, and a dog died in the fire.

 

Middletown Township firefighters responded to a  "fully involved" house fire at 127 Cherry Tree Farm Road in the New Monmouth section at 1:56 p.m. Friday.

One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion injuries, said Fire Department spokesman John Isaksen. The Port Monmouth Fire Company volunteer was taken to to Riverview Medical Center by the Fairview First Aid Squad.

Firefighters discovered a dog inside the house that apparently perished in the fire, Isaksen reported Saturday. 

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Monmouth County Fire Marshall’s office and the Middletown Township Fire Prevention Bureau.

Department Chief John D’Altilio commanded the scene where approximately 45 firefighters from four companies were on hand, representing East Keansburg, Old Village, Port Monmouth, and Community Fire. 

When they arrived, the firefighters found the 2-story white house had smoke coming out of several sides of the structure. 

The firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in the kitchen area and then attacked the blaze, which had extended to the attic spaces. Rain fell, at times. 

Fire Dept. Chief John D’Altilio declared the fire under control by 2:15 p.m., and all Fire Department units cleared the scene by 4 p.m. 

Also assisting at the scene were the MTFD Fire Police, MTFD Air Unit and Middletown Township EMS units.  

The house sustained smoke and fire damage.
