Holmdel Police Charge Resident for Possession of Crack Pipe

Police said the resident came to their attention when she flagged down a patrol car to ask a question.

Dorothea Shields of Holmdel flagged down a police patrol car in her townhouse neighborhood on Friday to ask the police officer a question about a social service program, and wound up under arrest, charged for possession of a crack pipe.

According to the police account of events, Shields, who lives in a townhouse development off Laurel Avenue at Route 35, flagged down Holmdel Police Sgt. Robert Philhower while he was driving in the complex to ask him a question about a mentoring program for “at risk” youth that she knows. He came back a few minutes later to give her more information.
