Holmdel Prisoner Bangs Head on Cell Wall After Threatening Officers, Police Say

Nicholas Ward was arrested after an incident at the Holmdel Motor Inn.

A dispute at the Holmdel Motor Inn resulted in a trip to the Holmdel jail and the hospital on Monday.

Police said Nicholas Ward, 35, of Hazlet and Adrienne Uhl, 31, of Holmdel were arrested after Holmdel Police were called to the scene of an earlier assault. The victim of the assault reported the incident to Middletown Police, according to Holmdel officers.

An investigation by Holmdel Police revealed Nicholas Ward was allegedly involved in the initial assault. Upon arrive, police witnessed Uhl to allegedly be in possession of controlled dangerous substances. Uhl and Ward were found to be in the same room.

Once processed at headquarters, police said Ward allegedly threatened officers and banged his head against the cell wall so hard he was transported to the hospital. 

Ward is being held in the Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. He is charged with simple assault, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing the administration of the law, disorderly conduct and terroristic threats.

Uhl was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
