Holmdel Police SUV Damaged in Car Accident in Keansburg Saturday

Police were making an arrest of a suspected drunk driver who had passed through town when a department vehicle was struck by yet another suspected drunk driver.

A Holmdel Police Department SUV was damaged in Keansburg during the course of a DWI arrest in the early hours of Saturday morning, say police.

Involved in the incident is Holmdel Police Dog "Diogi," who escaped from the struck vehicle, unharmed.

According to a police report, Ptl. Charles Groder arrested Sadrina Lee Rosser, 18 of Keansburg at 2:40 a.m. June 18 and charged her with DWI following a traffic stop. She had left Holmdel Twp and finally stopped in Keansburg on Main Street, they said.

Holmdel K-9 Officer Joseph Vanpelt was assisting Groder and waiting for the vehicle to be towed from the scene when his K-9 SUV was run into head-on by Aaron Rouse, 31, of Tinton Falls, who was operating a 1995 Nissan Altima, say police.

Officer Vanpelt was not in the vehicle when it was struck but his K-9 partner "Diogi" was in the vehicle, police say.

The police dog was unharmed in the accident, say police, but the SUV had substantial damage and had to be taken out of service.

Rouse was arrested and charged with DWI by Keansburg police after a motor vehicle accident investigation, according to the report.
