Holmdel Police Dog Leads Police to Discarded Jewelry Boxes
Township K-9 unit investigates a break-in on April 1, on Freemont Lane.
April 1: A K-9 police dog following the scent of a suspect who allegedly broke into 6 Freemont Lane led police a mile through the woods to a field behind 100 Commons Way, by the Holmdel Commons Shopping Center on Route 35 South.
There, police said they discovered discarded jewelry boxes from the residence's master bedroom.
Holmdel K-9 Officer William Bernard and his K-9, Harley tracked the suspect or suspects, said police.

The owner was away on vacation, and the family members in the area did not have a description or amount of jewelry, said Lt. Michael Smith.
According to the police report, a residential burglar alarm sounded at 8:51 p.m. Upon arrival while checking the exterior of the residence officers discovered a side window which had been pried open, said police.
