Holmdel Police Blotter: Arrest Follows Hit and Run Accident in Holmdel Village

Police charge a Middletown man with DUI.

This information was released by Holmdel Police on July 19. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. 

July 10: A 1993 Quality Electric truck parked on Plum Lane was reportedly burglarized sometime in the week prior to July 10.  Employees said two vent windows on the roof were broken out and the storage drawers in the cargo area were rummaged through. It was unknown if anything was taken at this time. The value of the damage is estimated at $300.

July 13: A Middletown man was arrested and charged for driving under the influence following a hit and run accident on Friday, July 13 at 12:53 p.m. According to police, a vehicle traveling east on Route 520 was stopped in traffic and subsequently hit from behind by a blue Lexus SUV driven by Raffaele Buzzelli of Center Ave in Middletown. After leaving the scene Buzzelli drove across the lawn at Vonage and fled the scene, but was later located on Ladwood Drive by Sgt. Vincent Imperato.  Buzzelli was placed under arrest by Ptl. Thomas Struble after it was determined that he was operating under the influence. He was processed and released pending a court date.
