Holmdel Man Charged With Assaulting an Officer

Jonathon Diaz, 31 of Dogwood Court was arrested at the Laurel Ave. Exxon station after allegedly fleeing the initial scene.

A Holmdel man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly stealing from and assaulting a Dogwood Court resident, then allegedly assaulting a Holmdel police officer.

At 10 a.m. on April 6, Holmdel Police were called to Dogwood Court where a woman alleged Diaz had stolen her wallet.

Diaz was located by Holmdel officers and found to be allegedly intoxicated and under the influence of drugs. Officers allegedly found the stolen wallet, and bags of marijuana In Diaz's possession.

Upon arrest, Diaz allegedly kicked a Holmdel officer in the side of the head.

Diaz was processed and transported to the Monmouth County Jail in lieu of a $45,000 bail.

He is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, simple assault, criminal mischief, fraudulant use of credit cards and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
