Hazlet Police Report High Rate of Arrests in Burglary Cases

In 2013, Hazlet cops made arrests in 16 out of 22 burglaries.

Hazlet Police recently posted some good news about the department's efforts to solve burglary cases in this message posted on the Hazlet Township Police Facebook page on May 8.

CRIME STATISTICS 2012 TO 2013
We recently were visited by the NJ State Police Uniform Crime Reporting Unit. They advised us that we reduced crime in Hazlet Township by 12.5% between 2012 and 2013.

They also noted we we had 22 reported burglaries in 2013, and we cleared 16 of them by arrests, which is a 72.7% clearance rate. According to the FBI, the clearance rate for burglaries nationwide is only about 10%.

A job well done to all our officers, with special recognition to Investigators Vincent Quinn, William Agar, Chris Acevedo, and Jerry Burgos.

We also want to thank our residents who act as our eyes and ears in their neighborhoods. Many of these crimes were solved as a result of alert residents calling us if they saw something that didn't look right.
