Hazlet Police Investigating Arson at Public Restrooms

Hazlet Police are investigating how a public restroom facility at Veterans Park was damaged by fire. 

On Friday at approximately 6:45 p.m., a fire set off smoke alarms at the standalone restroom facility located adjacent to the Activity Barn.

The facility is left open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., after which time it automatically locks. But sometimes the door is left ajar, said Hazlet Police Ptl. Vincent Quinn.

North Centerville, West Keansburg and Hazlet Fire Company #1 responded to the call at the mostly wooded park. 

Ptl. Quinn said he estimated to the damage to the toilets and paper dispensers to cost $1,000 to fix. Anyone with information is asked to call him at the Hazlet Township Police Dept, 732-264-6565 ext 113.
