Hazlet PD Cracking Down on DWIs During Graduation Weekend

Raritan High School students will flip their tassels next week, but the Hazlet Police Department is around to make sure the celebration doesn’t get out of hand.

The department will have DWI Saturation Patrol out from Friday through Monday, to coincide with the June 24 high school graduation. The department will fund extra patrols on the roads with a Bayshore DWI Saturation Patrol grant from the Division of Highway and Traffic Safety.

Patrol was also out during Memorial Day Weekend, which led to two arrests. Patrols plan to be out during the Fourth of July holiday weekend through Labor Day Weekend as well.

Last week, Mothers Against Drunk Driving recognized 48 Monmouth County police officers for their drunk driving enforcement efforts, including two Hazlet offices.
