Hazlet Man Who Survives Violent Crash Is Charged With Driving While Suspended

The 31-year old was was involved in a Saturday night single-car crash on Route 35.

Correction, 6pm: Due to a reporting error, an earlier version of this article said the driver was charged with DWI. The driver was not charged with DWI. Patch regrets the error.

John Morgan, 31, of Holmdel Road in Hazlet was charged with driving while suspended and driving without liability insurance after his Mazda crashed on Route 35, just north of Laurel Avenue in Holmdel, around 10 p.m.

After striking the barrier, Morgan's car crossed over three lanes to the shoulder, and bounced back to the barrier again. The car then overturned and Morgan was trapped inside. 

Holmdel First Aid and Holmdel Fire Company #2 responded to the scene where they were able to extricate Morgan from the vehicle and then transport him to Jersey Shore Medical Center.

Holmdel Ptl Jake Savage is the investigating officer for this crash.  Any witnesses are asked to contact the Holmdel Police Department at 732-946-4400 with any information. The crash remains under investigation.
