Hazlet Fire Companies Prepared For Worst, Hoping For Best
Volunteers will be staffed around the clock
Hazlet's three fire companies will be staffed throughout the storm, ready to respond to emergencies. On Sunday, the crews at Hazlet Fire Company, North Centerville and West Keansburg stations were preparing their own radios, generators and power saws to be in an operational state.
As winds started up, Hazlet Fire Company #1 Chief Tim Murray asks residents to take personal responsibility for their own safety. Evacuate if necessary, he said.
Murray cautioned people to be careful with generators. "Do not run generators inside buildings, including garages, because of the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning," he said.
